Quietude SW 6212 Paint Color Review | HGTV Homes Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2025
HGTV Homes Sherwin Williams just announced their color of the year for 2025 and although perhaps a bit predictable, it is a beautiful calming & relaxing color that is very versatile . Their color of the year is a beautiful calming sage green (green meets gray) called Quietude SW 6212.
Just to be clear, HGTV Homes paint is offered at Lowe’s and not Sherwin Williams regular network of owner | operators retail network. HGTV Homes paint at Lowe’s has had some mixed reviews. Some people have commented that the HGTV Sherwin Williams coverage of the paint is not as good as their regular line, but its significantly less than their other paint so homeowners can decide for themselves what do they value more. BUT you can always purchase Quietude at a regular Sherwin Williams retailer as well if you’re concerned about the coverage.
I don’t think HGTV Homes is trying to start any major trend announcement with their color selection for 2025 like Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore do with their big Color of the Year’s announcement. But I do think they have picked a color that is very saleable and perhaps by picking this color, they hope to boost sales. But any cynicism aside, Quietude is a beautiful color that create a calm and welcoming vibe, that is very versatile and can transcend most interior and exterior design styles.

And now for 2025, we have Quietude as our Color of the Year. Another color of the year that I absolutely love. Its actually not that much of a surprise that HGTV Home Sherwin Williams picked this color as sage green has been trending for the last few years, ever since Sherwin Williams announced Evergreen Fog as color of the Year in 2022 followed by Benjamin Moore a couple of months later with October Mist.

What’s Is Quietude’s LRV?
Quietude’s LRV (Light Reflective Value) is 48 which puts it in the light-medium category but its not too light and not too dark. You could say its just right.

Quietude is a green with complex blue and gray undertones.
Is Quietude a warm or cool color?
Quietude is a cool green. It will look warmer in south facing rooms and cooler where there is not as much natural light as in a north facing room. That’s why its always so important to test your colors before painting your walls.
Where can I use Sherwin Williams Quietude?
Quietude is one of those few colors that can go almost everywhere including interiors and exteriors and can transcend most design styles depending upon your style.
Sherwin Williams Quietude in the Living Room, Dining Room or Office

If your space allows it, a pop of color in a living room, dining room or office and set a wonderful mood and ambience in the room. Quietude would look great in any of these rooms.

Green bathrooms are always serene and calming and its the look you want for your bathroom in my humble opinion. SW Quietude would look great for any bathroom be it the family bathroom or a powder room. In our photo above, Quietude looks great in this bathroom with white tiles, flooring and the other white elements in this room to create an inviting spa like feel!

Green is always a relaxing and calm color for a bedroom and Quietude is no exception to this bedroom above. If you don’t want your whole room painted this color, you could do an accent wall in this color or add this color to your bedroom with home décor accents like in the bedding or throw cushions.
Is Quietude a good color for a Kitchen?
This kitchen above using Quietude is charming. Personally, I could see this kitchen in more of a coastal, lake house or farmhouse kitchen as opposed to a contemporary home in an urban downtown city. Would I use Quietude in an urban area? It depends. I could see it in a starter home for younger families, but not in a high-end contemporary home. It would look out of place and not be great for resale value if you’re selling your home in the near future.
Is Quietude a good color as an exterior paint color?
Green exteriors are trending this year and I highly suspect, they will be trending for a few years replacing the all black trend and the white + black trend that we are coming out of. It might be a tad bold for you to paint your entire exterior with Quietude, but adding it in some areas with coordinating colors could be a fresh new look for your home.

What white trim goes with Quietude?
Since Quietude is a cool paint color, cool white trims would be the best to pair with this color. Any of the whites listed below would look great for the trim, doors and ceilings.

What coordinating colors goes with Quietude?
There are a number of color combinations that would work well with Quietude but I have created two palettes that would work well in a number of rooms.
The co-ordinating colors above give versatility in a room. You could use Quietude for the walls, and Likeable Sand and Stucco as home décor accents for example. These soothing colors would work well in an office, girls room, guest bedroom or a living room.
