How it all started

From a young age I grew up looking at blue prints, going on construction sites and offering my opinion on color selections.  My father, a Professional Engineer, and co-owner of a Design|Build|Engineering firm, gave me an early view and interest into the field of designing, building and decorating. I wanted to become either an Architect or an Interior Designer and join my father’s firm but my mother thought that the renovation/building industry was no place for a woman. lol. She persuaded me to take my business degree. Which I did.

I obtained my Honors Bachelor of Commerce degree. I worked for a top Fortune 500 high-tech firm for 14 years working my way up the corporate ladder. In my last position at the company, I was Director of Operations/Facilities Management for 8 years managing & overseeing the head office/warehouse facility and 6 branch offices with a $1+ million operating budget.  This position gave me incredible facilities management|business experience as I streamlined operations. I retired from the corporate world to stay at home with my boys … and to pursue my own business.

In 1996, I bought my first fixer upper and started pursuing my dad’s dream. I buy “fixer uppers” to either fix up and rent out, or flip them to sell. I just flipped my 9th “fixer upper” during one of the slowest real estate markets. I’m currently looking for my next “fixer upper” investment property project to perform my magic on. Stay tuned!

In 2006, I staged my very first house.  Staging was just starting to become known in the real estate industry.  There was no formal staging training at that time so I watched every HGTV show on staging that I could find as I nervously staged my first house. The couple liked their newly “redesigned” home so much that they turned down an offer for full asking price and decided not to move.  The rest, as they say, is history. I went back to school to study interior decorating and design. My design firm is recognized for helping clients achieve their dreams either through redesigning their space, or helping them achieve top dollar by staging their home when they’re ready to sell.

My design, staging, renovation & business experience along with my design & business education, has given me the winning combination of business acumen and creativity. This gives me the ability to create amazing designs, while staying within budget, and also more importantly, while adding value to your home at the same time.
