Skatepark Themed Tween Boy Bedroom Makeover: The Reveal!!!
Six weeks ago, I joined 400+ other designers in a bi-annual design competition, the One Room Challenge, founded by Linda of Calling It Home. I have been participating in this challenge for the past four years because its not only inspiring to compete with so many other talented designers, its also a great way to design a room. Because to be honest, my home is like the shoe makers’ kids. lol. I’m so busy designing and creating amazing spaces for clients, well, sometimes when I get home, I just want to hang out with my family.
Well, its time that my son got a makeover for his room. Having lived in the house for a year, it was time… That’s all I can say. Here’s the embarrassing before pictures just to be transparent. It also shows that I can relate to my clients when they show me their house before I design their space!!

The After pics:
With alot of black paint, curtains a rug from Ikea, sk8board picture find from a local thrift shop, and scooters that noone was using, this room went from uninviting to the coolest room in the neighborhood that not only the tweenager loves, but all the neighborhood kids love too! Be careful what you wish for!!! lol
I’m really happy how the room turned out, but more importantly, my tween son was extremely happy with his bedroom makeover. Another happy client!

Hi! I’m Debi Collinson. Home Stylist. Stager. Color Consultant. Real Estate Investor. It all started back in 2006, at the request of a realtor, where I nervously staged my very first home. But the sellers liked their newly styled home so much that they turned down an offer for full asking price. I went back to design school and the rest is history.

So unique and masculine! I have never before seen this take on a boy’s room and I love it. Great job, Debi.
Debi, even though you jumped in a bit late – it still turned out great AND the gallery wall really does look great in the space 🙂
Thank you so much Nicole! It was great fun wasn’t it?
