Benjamin Moore Cinnamon Slate 2113-20
Benjamin Moore announced their 2025 Color of the Year to be ….. Cinnamon Slate 2113-20. It might be hard to get your head around where to use this deep moody purple, but personally, I LOVE this color. I have used similar colors twice in my house over the years. Once in my bedroom, and once in the media room in our basement.
What’s Is Cinnamon Slate’s LRV?
Cinnamon Slate’s LRV (Light Reflective Value) is 19.71 which puts in the darker which is on trend for 2025. We’re definitely seeing a trend towards dark & moody colors which elevates a room but it can be tricky to know where to use this color.

What are Cinnamon Slate’s Undertones?
Benjamin Moore describes this colors as a delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown. Think of it as plum meets brown.
Is Cinnamon Slate a warm or cool color?
Cinnamon Slate is a warm plum color. It will reflect its warm plum color in south facing rooms but will look cooler and darker in rooms where there is not as much natural light as in a north facing room. That’s why its always so important to test your colors before painting your walls to make sure that you’re going to like how it looks in that particular room.
Where can I use Benjamin Moore Cinnamon Slate?
Cinnamon Slate is a dark & moody color that exudes confidence and warmth. Its not a color that you put just anywhere in your home. BUT it would look great in the right place.
Sherwin Williams Quietude in the Living Room, Dining Room or Office
I can definitely see Cinnamon Slate in a bedroom, office or a bathroom. If I didn’t have to share an office, this would be a definite choice for me.
Depending on your design style, it would also work in a living room. If its too much for the entire room, an accent wall is a great place to go.

This color is lovely in this dramatic living room. They have used the color for the wall, trim and ceiling. This is called color drenching and it the current trend for 2025 interiors.

Benjamin Moore Cinnamon Slate in the Bathroom
Personally, I think Cinnamon Slate would look amazing in a powder room. Its a fun dramatic color and powder rooms are one room that can pop without having to fit into the rest of the house.

Cinnamon Slate as an Accent Wall

You may find Cinnamon Slate a bit too much for a whole room color, but adding it as an accent wall would add drama without making you feel like you’re drenched in the color. Notice how well this color goes with gray. If you still have gray furniture or gray accents left from our all gray era, this would tone the color down.

Cinnamon Slate is definitely NOT a whole house color, but you can use it as an accent color in hallways or rooms. I used a similar color to this in a basement media room which created a warm and inviting vibe where our family & friends would hang out.
Is Cinnamon Slate a good color for a Kitchen?
One day I saw in Pinterest or Instagram a picture of a pink kitchen. I was shocked actually to see a pink kitchen. Out of interest, I searched on Pinterest to see how common it was too have pink kitchens. To my surprise, there were more pink kitchens that I could have imagnede.
Cinnamon Slate is not pink, but in the purple family. I would NEVER recommend this as a kitchen color to a client but I would never recommend pink as a kitchen cabinet color as boy, was I surprised.
No I would not recommend this color for a kitchen, but if I had a girlie kitchen, I might lean towards this color. lol
Is Cinnamon Slate a good color as an exterior paint color?
That would be a fast NO! But it would look nice as a front door color.

The above front door is NOT Cinnamon Slate but its close in color. Doesn’t it look nice against the white exterior? This color would also look great with a gray exterior. Its bold and different, definitely not cookie cutter.
What white trim goes with Cinnamon Slate?
Since Cinnamon Slate is a warm paint color, warm white trims would be the best to pair with this color. Any of the whites listed below would look great for the trim, doors and ceilings.
