Family Room Makeover Reveal
Family Room Makeover Reveal
It’s hard to believe that it was only 6 weeks ago when 200+ Designer/Bloggers took up the challenge from Linda of Calling It Home to makeover a room in our house in just 6 weeks. We had just moved into our house only 6 months prior and the house was just screaming at us. We didn’t like the color of the walls, the fireplace was a negative focal point and there was no light ceiling light fixture.
The dreaded before pictures:
There was no ceiling light:
The fireplace was a negative focal point in the room.
Our house backs onto a conversation area and this is our view out the back. You can barely see the houses in the distance. You really feel like you’re in the country looking out of our family room.
I wanted to bring that country feel to our family room but still reflect that we do live in an urban setting so I created an Urban Country family room.
The Big Reveal – After Pictures:
We love our room now. We spend so much time there as a family and it finally feels like our own space.

I’m Debi Collinson. Designer. Stager. Real Estate Investor. In 2006, at the request of a realtor, I staged my very first home. Staging houses was just starting to become popular. I was very nervous staging my first house, but the sellers liked their newly redesigned home so much that they turned down an offer for full asking price. I went back to design school and have never looked back. Since 2006, I have been staging & styling spaces to make them look like they belong in a magazine page, and buying “fixer uppers” to fix up & either sell for a healthy profit or to rent them out. I’m currently living in my 8th “fixer upper.” Sign up to receive my e-mails of how to make your home stunning, how to sell your house for top dollar AND how to become financially independent one fixer upper at a time!
Debi,
Your living room makeover turned out great! LOVE how the fireplace turned out! And with the coffee table ~ pretty and shabby!
Enjoy your new room,
Barb 🙂
Thank you Barb! I’m glad you liked it! Thanks for dropping by.
Excellent makeover. The room cried out for your touch. Now it is a comfortable place to gather.
Thank you! It’s nice when we put our own touch on our favorite rooms – especially when we spend so much time there.

Thank you Jen! It was great to go through this journey with all of you!!!
